Women in TECH SEO Week Day 1 Workshop recap

My mind is buzzing – but in the best way possible! For the first time in a long while, I feel truly inspired. Women in Tech SEO offered a Workshop Day ahead of the Summit for the very first time, and what can I say? It was simply an incredible experience! While some attendees are still out enjoying dinner and networking, I had to return to my hotel – I needed to write everything down immediately.

Workshop 1: Personal Branding with Tazmin Suleman – Elevate Our Confidence

The day kicked off with the brilliant Tazmin Suleman and her workshop on personal branding. And wow, there was so much to take away from it! Personal branding is not just about what we do digitally and how we present ourselves online; it is also about what defines us as individuals. These two aspects don’t always have to align, but they are both integral parts of our identity.

It is crucial to take the time to define ourselves, reflect on who we are, and actually write things down. Setting small, achievable goals helps to build confidence and develop a strong sense of self. The practical exercises in this session were not only enjoyable but also a powerful reminder of the importance of self-discovery, goal-setting, and celebrating achievements. Thank you, Tazmin!

My key takeaway: Starting this week, I will make a conscious effort to take time for myself – such as going for a short walk alone.

Workshop 2: Communication, Influence & Negotiation with Bethan Vincent

The second workshop was led by the amazing Bethan Vincent and focused on communication, influence, and negotiation skills. This session was a strong reminder of how essential effective communication is – whether in meetings, during difficult conversations, or when dealing with challenging behaviour.

One of the most insightful aspects was learning how to communicate with higher management: making clear statements, presenting solutions rather than just problems, and involving leadership in decision-making when seeking their support. Another crucial point was recognising that C-level executives are not simply “putting pressure” on us – their responsibilities are simply different.

My key takeaway: I will incorporate the SBI model more into my approach! Thank you, Bethan!

Workshop 3: Mentorship with Miracle Inameti-Archibong – Uplift Others

Mentorship is one of my favourite topics – and Miracle Inameti-Archibong’s workshop was truly inspiring. As both a mentee and a mentor, I experience both sides of the relationship, and it was incredibly valuable to explore the topic in depth.

Mentoring is often misunderstood – many believe it is simply about one person showing another the way. However, it is actually a reciprocal relationship, where both parties grow together. Mira explained it perfectly: mentoring is about listening, helping others unlock their potential, and encouraging them to bring out what they already have inside. It is about supporting, challenging, and ultimately inspiring. A key lesson for me was understanding the importance of setting clear boundaries in mentor-mentee relationships.

My key takeaway: There is nothing more rewarding than guiding someone for a period of time and providing meaningful input. But just as important is setting clear boundaries. I will definitely apply many of today’s lessons to my next mentoring experience. Thank you, Mira!

Workshop 4: Creative Problem Solving with Hannah Smith – Unlock Your Creativity

The final workshop of the day was led by the brilliant Hannah Smith – and it was a real eye-opener! It reminded me that we are all creative. Over the years, we often forget how to tap into our creativity, or worse, convince ourselves that we are not creative at all. We tend to categorise people as either “creative” or “not creative” – but the truth is, we all have creative potential. As children, we embrace creativity fully, and while some manage to maintain it, others just need to wake it up again.

The practical exercises, tools, and examples were fantastic and demonstrated how easy it is to generate creative ideas without overthinking or striving for perfection on the first attempt. I particularly loved the framework we worked with and will definitely integrate it into my future projects.

My key takeaway: I will incorporate more creative exercises with my team and consciously try not to overthink new ideas.

An Unforgettable Day

Beyond the incredible workshops, I was delighted to reconnect with familiar faces, have great conversations, and expand my network.

A massive thank you to the entire Women in Tech SEOhttps://www.womenintechseo.com/ team for this wonderful, inspiring, and insightful day! I am already looking forward to the Summit tomorrow – excited for all the fantastic speeches to come!
